About PolDeC

Centre for Policy and Development (PolDeC) is a progressively dynamic non-profit, non-political, non-governmental development organisation committed to promoting and providing sustained focused and appropriate development through advocating for effective and implementable development policies and initiatives.  PolDeC was originally set up as The Homebuilders Foundation, a community based organisation committed to promoting and protecting family health in July 1999. The scope was however expanded in 2005 to accommodate broader development issues.

A development  policy resource and reference center that is a positive development catalyst; and an active participant in Nigeria’s development process.

initiatives as well as intellectual capital; promoting focused,  appropriate sustainable human and national development  in addition to mobilizing resources nationally and internationally for the sustainable
development of Nigeria

PolDeC is a strong institution pioneering unlimited development possibilities through expanding limitless development opportunities and options to further expand sustainable livelihoods opportunities and options for sustainable and unlimited African development possibilities as well as global development possibilities unlimited.

 PolDeC’s Capability Statement

PolDeC’s relevance stems from its ability to inform on and explain international development policy making and programming at the national level and therefore organise and mobilise civil society towards achieving the policies.

PolDeC’s resource and documentation center also provides technical assistance to advocates and institutions in addition to offering research consultancies under this program.

A core objective of PolDeC is to promote the utilization of local capacities and knowledge, especially indigenous knowledge that furthers appropriation of technologies and global expertise to local realities for the sustainable development of human capital/capacity and communities in Nigeria. 

Strengths

  • Access to timely pertinent development information that has the power to empower and transform communities and individuals. This culminates in people development dovetailing into community,  national and global development.  This is because access to vital timely information on health, agriculture, financial services, social services provisioning, markets, government policies and programming, employment, business opportunities and education is what strengthens and equips people to define their personal and communal development agenda.
